Maraea PCOS Miscarriages Clomid IVF
Tuesday Jun 28, 2022
Tuesday Jun 28, 2022
Todays episode Maraea talks about her infertility journey. Being diagnosed with PCOS at a young age, she knew she would likely need help to fall pregnant. Maraea would sometimes go over a year without a period, so it was almost impossible to track her cycle. Seeking advice from a fertility specialist the first step was to do a Laparoscopy/Hysteroscopy, however before organising to do this she fell pregnant naturally. Maraea goes into depth about her miscarriages, clomid cycles and failed transfers. She also sought a 2nd option from another fertility specialist who ordered even more testing. Maraeas journey still continues. It was an absolute pleasure talking to Maraea, after ending the recording we spoke for another 30 minutes or so, it was another episode on its own! Wishing you all the best Maraea.

Bib Clomid IVF Miscarriage Ectopic Covid
Tuesday Jun 14, 2022
Tuesday Jun 14, 2022
Bib shares her incredible story going through IVF and personal loss (losing both her mother and sister in law during their TTC journey). After trying to conceive on their own with no success, they did 6 rounds of Clomid and unfortunately experienced an early miscarriage. Their next step was IVF (seeking help from an IVF clinic in Brisbane, a 5 hour drive from where they lived in rural NSW). Bib shares with me the multiple stimulated cycles, failed transfers, early miscarriages, ectopic pregnancy, and laparoscopies (most of it through the Covid pandemic and navigating border restrictions) Bibs story still continues, as she is currently waiting to do another embryo transfer (with two embryos this time). Wishing you all the best Bib! Thank you for sharing your story.

Anna PCOS IVF Immune protocol PGS
Tuesday May 31, 2022
Tuesday May 31, 2022
In todays episode I talk to Anna about her infertility journey. Anna was diagnosed with PCOS after realizing her cycles were irregular. She didn’t respond well to the fertility drugs to help her ovulate, so the next step was IVF. Anna lived in rural QLD and had to travel 2000km to Brisbane to seek fertility treatment. She goes into depth about her miscarriages, including a hospital stay that wasn’t well managed by the staff. Anna went through a few IVF stimulated cycles and many transfers, she changed fertility specialists a few times as she felt like there was more to investigate. She is a big believer in advocating for yourself and asking questions. She had two laparoscopies with two different specialists, finding mild endometriosis. In her last stimulated cycle, she had her embryos PGS and was on an immune protocol for a DQ alpha gene match. At the time of recording, Anna was 28 weeks pregnant.

Emma Cancer IVF ICSI
Tuesday May 17, 2022
Tuesday May 17, 2022
In todays episode I chat with Emma. Her IVF journey started after her husband was diagnosed with cancer. As they were very keen to start a family, before starting chemotherapy, they had some sperm frozen. Emma went to a lot of appointments and procedures on her own. She was very private with her IVF journey, and no one knew they had begun treatment until the very end. Emma had a very supportive fertility specialist at a bulk billing IVF clinic. She went through a few stimulated cycles and transfers and now has a beautiful 5 month old boy! Her husband Adam is in remission and they are enjoying being a family of 3!

Tuesday May 03, 2022
In this first episode of season 2, Simone tells her own tale of infertility with the help of her husband Stuart. The journey began after 12 months of trying to conceive naturally and Stuart deciding to get his sperm tested. They found out Stuart has low sperm count and for them to conceive naturally would have a 1 in a million chance and the best option was IVF with ICSI. After 1 stimulated cycle and 3 failed transfers, Simone had a Laparoscopy. The surgery found mild endometriosis, adhesions and high natural killer cells. They did another stimulated cycle and a had a few more failed transfers (on an immune protocol) before discovering the DQ alpha gene partial match. They completed LMIT in Melbourne and went through another stimulated cycle (doing PGS this time) and a few more transfers. Using their first PGS embryo and on a tailored immune protocol, Simone fell pregnant. A year after their daughter was born they decided it was time to extend their family. The same treatment plan was used to conceive their son (who is now 5 months old).

Thursday Apr 21, 2022
Todays episode is an amazing one to listen to. Alesha chats to us about her IVF journey, ectopic pregnancy, OHSS and how they moved from fertility treatment to inter country adoption, then onto local adoption. Alesha and her husband adopted two siblings within 12 months and she walks us through the technical and emotional aspects of the adoption process. The main message today from Alesha and her husband is that IVF isn’t everything, and not necessarily the end of the road.
